Identifying and Responding to Domestic Violence

Karen Triggs

Karen will highlight the importance of screening for Domestic Violence when working with couples or clients who are in relationships. She will outline how abusive partners typically think about sex and the key criteria to be considered when supporting a victim and assessing whether an abusive partner is committed to long term change. Karen will also discuss how to work with couples with a DV history.

Karen Triggs

Karen is a psychotherapist and art therapist who has extensive experience working with couples and clients who present with complex trauma, DV and CSA. Karen has a BA in Psychology, a Grad Dip in Teaching and a Masters in Art Psychotherapy. She is nearing completion of the Grad Dip in Sexology through Curtin University. Karen moved into private practice on a full time basis towards the end of 2016 after working for a women’s health centre and well known NGO.
